The last weekend of October, together with the holiday of November 1, offers 3 days in which to make plans as a family. There are many Galician city councils that are preparing for this holiday that is gradually becoming more famous in Galicia, seeking to differentiate from the well-known American “Halloween”, and even more rooted in the Galician tradition such as Samaín. "Samhain" means "end of summer", as the ancient Celts celebrated it at that time of transition from summer to winter. This millennial celebration takes place every year, during the night that runs from October 31 to November 1, on one of those dates when it is said that it is easier to travel between two worlds: that of the living and that of the dead. .

What getaways can we make to enjoy these dates?

There are several alternatives that we propose throughout the Galician territory:

OURENSE

Noite Meiga in Ribadavia. This 2021 it returns in a reduced format and with limited capacity in each of the shows, which will take place on October 29 and 30.

Samaín in A Baixa Limia. Baixa Limia, Lobios and Bande, advance a series of activities for the Samaín, especially focused on children.

Allariz de Medo. This night of "terror" also comes to Allariz, where the City Council will present its "Allariz de medo", which will be held from October 29 to November 1.

Albarellos. In the lands of Monterrei, the town of Albarellos recovers its Samaín under the motto "Xa can run", with a "tunnel do medo", food and music. The appointment will be on October 3 at 8:30 p.m.

PONTEVEDRA

Vigo. Numerous activities in different parts of the city, such as parades, account accounts, children's workshops ...

Samaín Fest (Pontevedra). The date with beer is back with the Samaín Fest, which will be held on the Todos los Santos bridge. Lugo. Between Monday, October 28 and Friday, November 1, Samaín is celebrated in Lugo, a perfect event to get to know or revisit the city of the Roman Wall.

Monterroso. For those who are more from Todos los Santos than from Samaín, Monterroso offers a very different plan on the holiday. Every November 1, a market known as Feira dos Santos is held there. Its origin dates back to the Middle Ages, linked to a tax on salt that was charged in the town of Lugo.
